At the Town’s Volunteer Appreciation event, on April 17 at the Justina Centre, Michelle was awarded the very first LBMCOC Volunteer of the Year. Congratulations Michelle!!

Since joining our board in 2023, Michelle Hickey has demonstrated unwavering dedication. As Director of the Fund Development Committee, she orchestrated a successful Biscuits and Bingo event, raising ~$7000.00 for our Veterans Memorial extension. Additionally, she organized a food/cash drive for the NEA food bank, collecting $137.00 and 25 lbs of food during the October Trunk or Treat event. Michelle’s photography skills have also benefited our community, capturing moments at various town events.

Additionally, Michelle volunteered as a bereavement coordinator, assisting families in planning funerals within the St. Francis of Assisi parish. She visited seniors in the town, providing meals and transportation to appointments and community functions. As an administrator for the ‘Around Town’ and Community Calendar Facebook pages, Michelle promoted community awareness about events, local businesses, and other volunteer groups in our Town. Her dedication extends beyond our town. She has been actively involved in addressing hunger and homelessness in different parts of NEA Her impact is felt far beyond our immediate community, making her an great asset in various initiatives.

Michelle also sat on the board of the St. John’s Regatta as a Director of two committees and administers their Facebook page.  She also volunteered with the Mental Health Association, the Health Care Foundation, and the Janeway Foundation/NTV Fundraisers in various capacities in 2023.
