Michelle Hickey has deep roots in Outer Cove where she lives with her daughter Aurora, who also shares her mother’s passion for volunteering in the community they love. For the past 17 years, she has worked for the provincial government as an accountant and currently works with the Executive Council - Treasury Board Secretariat.
She has served multiple terms in various member and executive committee roles in our town, including St. Francis of Assisi School Council, Parish Council, the Town’s Heritage Committee, and Recreation Commission. She was a member of committees that saw the completion of the Justina Centre and the Veteran’s Memorial, and also a member of the Coastal Conservation, and Festival of Friends Committees. She has spearheaded dozens of fundraisers and events over the years bringing in over $400,000 to various groups and projects in our town. In recent years along with a dedicated group of volunteers, she has focused on charitable outreach projects both within and outside our town’s boundaries.
Currently, Michelle is Director of Hospitality and Photographer for the Royal St. John’s Regatta Committee. As a passionate freelance photographer, her photos have been published in both local and national publications and she is regularly engaged by NTV, The Newfoundland Herald, Rogers, CBC, The Healthcare Corporation, and the Janeway Foundation for photo assignments.
Michelle has been a community volunteer with our Association for several years and brings a treasure trove of experience to our Board’s Fund Development Committee.
