In April, 2020 with the pandemic lockdown in place, our Association started a campaign to honor the many healthcare and essential workers in our Town who were daily putting themselves on the frontline. We developed and launched the “Making Noise Campaign” which ran from April 5 – June 14. Every Sunday at 7 PM, families were encouraged to stand at the end of their driveways and for 10 minutes bang pots and pans, shout, and make noises at all vehicles and foot traffic passing, and talk with their neighbors, as a way of recognizing all frontline workers. This successful campaign was announced weekly by the ringing of the St. Francis of Assisi church bell in Outer Cove. Special thanks to the Pastoral Council for permission to ring the bell which was organized by Michelle and Aurora Hickey - a special thanks to both.
